Preferred tool

In the new era of learning, technology plays a fundamental role in the processes of learning for the students. With that, students always looking for a tool that can help them with their assignments. The example of tools that mostly used by students that help in preparing for their assignment is Grammarly, Turnitin, Citation Machine, Writing Ocean and many more. But, the most tools that I preferred among those are Grammarly and Turnitin and I have my own opinion about which is the best to use.

Features of the tool:

Grammarly

Grammarly is an app that can check your grammar, plagiarism, and many more. Through this app, the individual can easily detect and correct their assignment. Once a document is pasted on the app, Grammarly will automatically examine it and correct it. An example of the feature that Grammarly provides is:

1.      Spell-checking system

 

2.      Grammar-checking

 

3.      Clarity

 

The benefit that students can get this featured is the individual can easily detect their mistake and make the correction on the spot. It is because Grammarly will underline the incorrect word or grammar and at the same time it also provides the correction for it. From that, the individual not only can make their correction but also can improve themselves in spelling, grammar, and the clarities of their assignment.

 

Turnitin

Turnitin is one of the useful plagiarism and grammar detecting software. The individual just needs to upload the composed document, and it will check the percentage of duplication and correct the grammatical error in it. The individual can check their mistake base on the report provide after the document has been reviewed. The feature that provides in Turnitin is:

1. The document will highlight referenced or non-original content.

 

2. Displayed similarity percentage that shows the amount of referenced content compared to the original content.

 

3. Show the grammatical and spelling errors.

 

4. Provide citation.

 

The benefit that student can get from this feature is, they can detect their grammatical and spelling error easily as it is shown in a bracket and it also provides the correction for it. Besides, this app also helps the student and teacher to check the percentage of duplication of information that has been retrieved from another website for the assignment which shows the percentage per website. From that, the students can make improvements to the paperwork conducted. Lastly, the app also makes it easier for the student to make a citation as it has shown from which website the information from.

Conclusion

 Based on the feature already described, you can determine which one I mostly preferred which is Turnitin. The app provides more features that help students and even teachers in the teaching and learning process.

Uses Of Particular Tools In Teaching

 There has a variety of tools that can be used in the classroom to support the teaching and learning process. The purpose for it to be created is to improve the learning process, which by using a new way of teaching that can increase the student focus and also provide a fun environment to study. An example tool for the teaching and learning process that I have used before is Quizizz. Quizizz is very very convenient because for the teaching and learning process as it provides many features that can help the teacher to teach and student to learn. It is one of the unique and fun ways to engaging with the student.

                                    

Feature of Quizizz:

- Provide an easy way to access it.

It has two options to use the application, which is the student and teacher can download the app or just it online. Participants also can join from any device.

- Student paced

The quiz question will appear on student devices. From that student can read the student can read and answer the question at their own pace. This is very suitable to use especially nowadays where the learning process is done online because of the covid19 pandemic.

- Quiz customization

The teacher can custom their quiz through the quiz-making process step by step which is a very straightforward layout. It also has a lot of fun custom which the participant feel like playing a game even they answer the quiz. The creator can set a timer for the whole quiz or set a timer per question. Besides the advantage of time-saving, it also helps to prevent students from cheating. 

- Report

From the quiz, the teacher can observe their student-level based on the result. The report can be saved and accessed at any time. Not only does the creator get the results, but the participant itself is also possible to get his or her results. This makes it for the creator easy to identify the gaps in knowledge. The participants can view what kind of section they have to improve themselves.

1. Pick an existing quiz or create your own.

2. Click “Assign HW”

3. Set a Deadline and click “Host Game”

4. Share the code or join the link wherever you need to.

Quizizz engages the student in a unique and fun way and make them stay focus during class.

My Expectation for this course

 

Hi my name is Nor Faizah and I am study at UITM Puncak Alam under the faculty of Education, with my major being a Bachelor Degree in Biology.

Thing that I expect that I can get from Innovative Technologies in Teaching and Learning course is to know the uses of technology and internet in education, especially nowadays where the whole country is starting to use the internet and technology in various fields. In addition, I am also belief that this course will improve my skills in the use of technology in completing assignments and I am also confident that these skills are important for future employment.
